So, I feel that is my duty to help you to prepare for a rainy day. I thought that I was prepared and I was so wrong. I had money in my savings that would tide me over for months in case of a rainy day. You know, when things broke or broke down, and the unexpected bill arrives, a health issue that needs to be addressed! BUT… the rainy day I was not prepared for was DIVORCE! For four years I lived as though I was living on 2 incomes so bills came accordingly. Some of you are probably like yeah you were married so you had two incomes duh.

True, but if I kept the mindset that of one income leaving I would have saved up more and be better prepared for my divorce. I went from two-income back to one, that hurt bad!!!! Trust me I know how to make being broke look very good and I love good layaways. I even came across a website where you can put plane tickets on layaway. Check out my page on Travel Tips for more information. Ok, back to what I was talking about. Now I’m not saying that you should live as though you are going to get a divorce.
Absolutely not!!! When we are in committed relationships and we live with someone what is wrong with budgeting in such a way that we still plan as though we can only depend on one and save accordingly?

Divorce is not the only way to lose that additional income. What if a layoff occurs or someone gets sick, gets in an accident, can’t work, or insurance doesn’t cover recovery? One income changing circumstances. So if you want to plan for a rainy day work your budget on what it would take to do so based off one of your incomes. Or instead of spending the money you now have that is free due to their income save a majority of it and act as though it truly isn’t “free”. Pinch those pennies a little harder. don’t deny yourself but operate your finances in wisdom. Pay off those debts, owe no one nothing. Rainy Days they always come but what kind of storm are you prepared for?!?!
